Nitta Eri
Birthdate: March 17, 1968
Birthplace: Kamifukuoka, Saitama Prefecture
Bloodtype: O
Eri Nitta was one of the original members of Onyanko Club, however soon after joining she began to feel as though show business just wasn't for her and she considered calling it before the the group took off. Fate has a funny way of working out though. Before she got the chance to quit, a scandal rocked the group and resulted in five of the core members gone. This resulted in Eri's popularity ranking shooting up from #6 to #1 and she realized quitting now would be foolish. When 'Serefuku wo Nugasanaide' debuted she was featured as one of the prominent members, and quickly became the core of the group. This fame and large fan base opened up doors for her as a solo artist. Her debut single set a sales record for a solo female artist.
Eri stuck with Onyanko Club until 1986 and graduated with the single Jaa Ne. She showed her Onyanko Club loyalty when she returned for the final concert (she was the last one off the stage). Her post-Onyanko Club career was pretty successful, too. She continued to release music and was famous for her "million dollar smile", a name she earned due to the large paycheck she was taking home for her idol good looks. In 1987 after the final Onyanko Club concert she began to take her career in a more mature direction with self written music which sold pretty well, however at the end of the decade she decided to take four years off. In 1994 she was back and ready for action, kicking off her return with a photo/essay book. Her show biz career was put on hold for a while when she married in 1996, but she wasn't down for long and came back pretty soon with a photobook in '99 and the Onyanko Club reunion single in '02. Lately, she has been doing some acting and recently announced plans to debut as a novelist.
